Capture a thought from anywhere.

A small shortcut window for a task or event, wherever you’re working on Mac.

The idea

An idea often arrives while you’re working in another app. We want a configurable global shortcut that opens a small Timebird input without making you switch to the full calendar window.

Type a task or an event in everyday language. The capture window would show the interpreted date, time and destination before saving, so an ambiguous phrase doesn’t quietly put something in the wrong place.

Thoughts without a date would go into an inbox to sort later. The experience should be quick enough to preserve your train of thought, while making it clear whether an item was captured as a task or scheduled as a calendar event.

What we want to add

  • Configurable system-wide keyboard shortcut
  • Compact task and event capture window
  • Review interpreted dates and destination
  • Inbox for thoughts without a scheduled time

How it could feel

Dentist next Tuesday at 4. Remember to submit my application Friday.

Getting the details right

The shortcut must be configurable and handle conflicts with other apps. A short review step should keep speed from coming at the cost of a wrong date or calendar.
